Meet Marie!

Project stay at home mom

My sister-in-law, Holly, and friend Susan came with me to do the surprise this time! We saw Marie browsing a kids store, and we knew she was the one!

This is Marie with her cash….

And after she went shopping!

And her story:
Hi I’m Marie Porritt, mother of five children that bring so much joy and purpose to my life..  I live in Round Mountain NV (translation- middle of no where) My husband does computer work for a Gold Mine.  I grew up and got married in Georgia to an Alaskan boy and now live in Nevada.  I’m your basic molly Mormon and I love that life sytle.  My mom often said I was born in the wrong century because I love any thing old including old style skills like quilting, some home-style cooking and someday I would like to raise some chickens, like my grandma did.

My husband and youngest two daughters went to Utah in order to go to his cousin’s funeral. Because we don’t have a theater where we live we went to the mall to watch a movie.  (I had not been to a mall in a little over two years so I was totally excited just to be in a real store and to go to a real theater– I know aren’t I deprived) so we went to a toy store to kill some time and I was approached with the opportunity to get a new outfit.  I was a bit shocked when asked  and confused as to why some one would do that for me.  But boy howdy I took them up  on it.  I sent the baby with my husband and my brother in law and me and my two year old went shopping.  My jaw kind of dropped when Susan handed me $150.00  I have never had $150 to spend on an outfit ever.  Catherine my two year old loved the coloring book and especially the snack she got It kept her busy while I tried on some clothes.  I so enjoyed shopping I have discovered that I like shopping with “other people’s money”.  My before clothes consisted of a jean dress that I wore through out my last pregnancy and some worn out every day tennis shoes. My after clothes consisted of a cute top that hid my -five kids momma pooch.
and some cute black pants I even got a set of earrings, headband and some stylish shoes.  I guess all my years of watching what not to wear has paid off.  Oh, I went into Claire’s a second time after my little make over and the lady working there asked me if I had a twin.  Scott my husband asked me later “those ladies made your day – your week didn’t they?”  Yes, they did.
